UPDATE: Voting is now closed and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported me in the 2009 Awards, it has certainly been an adventure and it is all down to you guys and girls – so THANK YOU.
It is something of a double whammy for me this week. First off, things have been a bit quiet on the blog this week as we have just added a new member to our family – in just a few short years I have gone from having no kids to being a dad of three! I can hear the pitter-patter of tiny netbooks bouncing around the living room – and one of the kids has already taken a shine to my new HTC Hero.
Secondly, I wrote recently about this blog being nominated for the Computer Weekly IT Blog Awards 2009 and was gobsmacked pleasantly surprised, having checked the Computer Weekly web site this evening, to discover www.jasonslater.co.uk and I have been shortlisted in the IT Professional Male and IT Twitter User of the Year categories.

Working as the sole IT representative in a busy, non-IT, SME can sometimes leave you feeling isolated and detached from the larger community, which is one of the reasons I started blogging in the first place. Keeping in touch and sharing knowledge is a great way to grow both skills and knowledge – and also helps to get the job done. I often prefer to be one of the quiet “back room” guys that works hands on with the technology so if it weren’t for blogging and wider community support I may never had the opportunity to have a voice at all – so thanks to you all for helping me make this blog special.
In both of these categories I am up against some stiff competition with a number of seasoned and professional bloggers and at least one well known celebrity – so I need your support – please pop over to the voting page and cast your vote: Vote in the Computer Weekly IT Blog Awards 2009.
